This project is the second expansion of the existing Medical Office Building (MOB) on the Memorial East Campus in Shiloh, Illinois, and features new offices and patient rooms for the Siteman Cancer Center. The architecture takes advantage of the site’s existing five-acre lake, orienting patient rooms toward the shoreline to maximize views of nature.

DTLS designed an outdoor amenity space adjacent to the patient rooms, overlooking the lake beyond. The design intent was to create a peaceful respite for visitors and patients undergoing treatment. The layout of the amenity space offers sightlines to the lake along a curving pathway as well as smaller, intimate places to sit and relax. Native landscape plantings create wildlife habitat and feature an array of wildflowers which are continuously changing with the seasons.
