Traditions Plaza

University of Missouri - Columbia

Situated at the north end of the Carnahan Quad and facing Jesse Hall, Traditions Plaza celebrates the history and values of the University of Missouri, Columbia.  The alumni plaza in the heart of the campus consists of a low-rise stage, memorial plazas and a terraced amphitheater merged with the landscape.

Six low brick walls with limestone pilasters define the amphitheater.  Lawn panels stretch between each terrace arc, providing seating for approximately 250 people, with lawn space beyond for an additional 750.  The stage at the north end is a focal point for pep rallies and performances.  Donor pavers commemorating alumni and MU traditions adorn the surface of the stage.  A permeable plaza, memorial walks and seating circles radiate outward from the stage to the terraces beyond.

DTLS was awarded the project in March 2014 and successfully delivered Construction Documents within a tight 3-month timeframe.  Traditions Plaza was opened on Homecoming weekend, October 25, 2014, commemorating the University’s 175th anniversary.
