DTLS is part of a team working with Great Rivers Greenway and the City of Olivette to develop an alignment for a segment of the Centennial Greenway, extending from Olive Boulevard and I-170 to Warson Park in Olivette. The study area encompasses a diverse mix of land uses and stakeholders, including residents, merchants and employers as well as public and private agencies. The design team has been working closely with these stakeholders to explore alternatives in an effort to determine how the greenway can best serve the community and region.
The design team identified potential greenway corridors which included unused railroad right-of-way, city street rights-of-way, parkland and portions of the River Des Peres floodplain.
DTLS played a key role in helping to distill design principles and objectives from various stakeholders into a succinct set of overarching goals for the project. From these goals, a set of measurable criteria was developed, against which each alignment alternative was evaluated. This evaluation was used to guide discussions with a Community Advisory Committee, a Technical Advisory Committee, and the general public, leading to the selection of a preferred greenway alignment.
