The intersection of Kingshighway and Forest Park Parkway has been reconfigured to improve safety, access and wayfinding, while enhancing the BJC Washington University Medical Campus and improving its connection to Forest Park.

DTLS led the design of a streetscape which introduced new campus standards for improved accessibility and landscape performance.  Barrier-free sidewalks, new wayfinding signage, signalization, lighting and protected street crossing refuges enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety.  Meanwhile, permeable pavers, continuous tree trenches, and medians planted with species indicative of the Missouri landscape enhance campus aesthetics and environmental performance.

Elevating Forest Park Parkway to a four-way intersection made way for an opportunity to design a multi-modal path and tunnel under Forest Park Parkway. This new path safely connects the north and south portions of the east edge of Forest Park. The landscape along the path includes native plantings and is the first phase of a multi-phased plan to expand Forest Park’s Dual Path system.
