Project Facts

6 acres

This project is the second expansion of the existing Medical Office Building (MOB) on the Memorial East Campus in Shiloh, Illinois. The new expansion includes offices and patient rooms for the Siteman Cancer Center. The architecture takes advantage of the site’s existing 5-acre lake, locating the patient rooms along the shoreline to maximize views to nature.

DTLS designed an amenity space immediately adjacent to the patient rooms, overlooking the lake beyond. This area is intended to be a peaceful respite for patients, and their families, while undergoing treatment. The linear layout of the amenity space offers open areas along pathways as well as smaller, intimate spaces to sit and relax. Generous ornamental plantings, native seeded wildflowers, and custom shade structures add interest in all seasons.

In addition to the amenity space, DTLS worked closely with the Client and Civil Engineer to design the parking lot expansion and associated planting areas in accordance with the existing campus aesthetic and maintenance regimes.
